Important Notes

1. Tourist Visa (Visitor Visa - Subclass 600)

  • Purpose: For individuals visiting Australia for tourism, visiting family or friends, or for a short stay.
  • Duration: Can be granted for up to 3, 6, or 12 months.
  • Eligibility: Requires proof of sufficient funds to support yourself during your stay and evidence of your intent to return to your home country.
  • Multiple-entry: You can apply for a multiple-entry visa, which allows you to visit Australia multiple times during the visa’s validity period.

2. Working Holiday Visa (Subclass 417 and 462)

  • Purpose: For young travelers (typically aged 18-30 or 35 depending on the country) who want to work and travel in Australia for up to 12 months.
  • Eligibility: You must be from a country that has an agreement with Australia and meet the age and other requirements.
  • Extension: In some cases, you can extend your visa for a second or third year if you complete certain types of work in rural areas of Australia.

3. Student Visa (Subclass 500)

  • Eligibility: You must have an acceptance letter from an Australian education provider and demonstrate that you have sufficient funds to cover your tuition fees, living expenses, and return travel.

4. Temporary Work Visa (Temporary Skill Shortage - Subclass 482)

  • Purpose: For skilled workers who have a job offer from an Australian employer.
  • Eligibility: The employer must be approved by the Australian government, and the position must be on Australia’s skilled occupation list.
  • Duration: This visa is usually granted for 2 to 4 years, depending on the employer and occupation.
  • Work Rights: You can work full-time for the sponsoring employer during the visa validity.

5. Skilled Migration Visa

 

  • Purpose: For individuals with skills and qualifications that are needed in Australia’s labor market.
  • Eligibility: You need to meet the points-based criteria, including age, education, work experience, and English proficiency. You also need to pass a skills assessment for your occupation.
  • Visa Types:
    • Skilled Independent Visa (Subclass 189): No employer sponsorship required. You can live and work anywhere in Australia.
    • Skilled Nominated Visa (Subclass 190): Requires nomination by a state or territory government.
    • Skilled Regional (Provisional) Visa (Subclass 491): For people intending to live and work in a designated regional area of Australia.
  • Duration: Permanent residency (for certain subclasses) or temporary (for some provisional visas).
